JamesJames Fogarty is a composer, conductor, and singer currently based in London, England. Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, he completed his first degree in classical voice at l’Université de Moncton before moving to London to pursue postgraduate studies in composition. James comes from a primarily choral background: prior to moving to London, he also sang with the Choeur Louisbourg, semi-professional choir based in Moncton that focused on early music. He has conducted a number of choirs and vocal ensembles in both Canada and the UK since 2008. James’ choral compositions and arrangements have been performed by such groups as the Canadian Chamber Choir, Prairie Voices, the Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie, and the Savoy Jazz Choir, and his opera Baba Yaga: Witch of the Forest was premiered at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton, New Brunswick, in January 2010.

James currently works as a freelance composer with a particular interest in writing for choir, theatre, and video. He greatly enjoys collaborative projects, both with musicians and in interdisciplinary settings.
